The Specialization Program of Film Production

Film Production

1. Program Focus and Development Direction
This program is designed to meet the contemporary film and television industry’s demand for versatile creative talent. The core focus centers on the organic integration of humanistic aesthetic critique and professional media practice. By synthesizing film aesthetic theory, directing and screenwriting practice, and journalistic documentary imaging, the program establishes a cross-disciplinary platform for media production. In addition to emphasizing the professionalization of media technologies, it is dedicated to guiding students to develop core competencies in exploring emerging media trends and digital content translation within a rapidly changing communication environment.

2. Core Competencies
Students enrolled in this program will develop comprehensive core competencies, ranging from narrative conception to professional image and video production. Students are expected to master an aesthetic eye for film appreciation and the narrative logic of screenwriting, thereby developing analytical and practical skills in documentary imagery, film and television principles, and contemporary journalistic storytelling. Furthermore, the curriculum emphasizes the practical application of lighting, sound technology, and world cinema aesthetic theories, enabling students to flexibly employ media technologies to solve complex visual storytelling problems.

3. Curriculum Overview
The structure of this program features a progressive, hierarchical design, requiring a minimum of 18 total credits for completion. The curriculum is divided into “Foundational Courses” designed to establish basic creative logic, which include two required subjects: Film/Video Appreciation and Script Writing; and “Core Courses” aimed at enhancing technical depth. From six advanced subjects—Theory and Practice in Documentary, Film/video Production, Sound & Light Effects Techniques, Study for Contemporary News Story, World Film Aesthetic (Theory and Practice), and Recording & Editing and Technique—students must choose four to complete. This ensures that students possess shared professional expertise while maintaining high learning flexibility and room for personal development.
